Wichita marine clutches and brakes are both consistent and reliable with pneumatic control through the Wichita airtube providing the straight-line characteristics of torque versus pressure, allowing smooth accurate power take up with no effects from centrifugal force. The special ventilated design of Wichita marine clutches provides the ability to dissipate the high heat generated in maneuvers such as crash astern or holding on station.

Water-cooled brakes provide the ideal solution for high-energy dynamic braking duties.

The Wichita and Industrial Clutch family of oil immersed clutches and brakes are ideal for the marine market. Fully enclosed or designed for mounting internal to gearboxes these units are immune from environmental conditions. Since torque is created through hydro viscous shearing of the oil, clutch and brake plate life is almost infinite. Special grooving patterns and friction materials offer smooth engagements with excellent heat dissipation and can be used in a variety of oils including vegetable based and EP oils. Available in air or hydraulic actuation.
